IK Multimedia Amplitude iRig

In 10 years time we’re probably going to be using ipods instead of having FX pedals or amps at all, and just ocnnecting them to the PA. But that’s just speculation.

Something that’s actual fact is the new iRig. It’s made by IK Multimedia, and it’s basically an adapter to connect your guitar and headphones/amp/PA to your iPhone/iPod/iPad and then download the free software from the App Store (there’s also a full features version that you have to pay for) and start jamming. For some it’s just a gimmick, but for others (me included) I think it’s actually a feasible backup rig, that if it’s on your iPhone, you’d always have with you. What a great idea.
